"pf job review"
Pros
training was straightforward and easy to follow
Cons
The biggest downside was constant understaffing, which made the workload heavier.

"just okay to work here"
Pros
awesome team and an even better manager
Cons
It gets really busy sometimes, and if the check-in system goes down, managing the crowd can be overwhelming.

"yep, it?s true"
Pros
perfect place to meet new people and build connections
Cons
Low pay, mostly part-time positions. You?re required to wear dress pants or khakis while cleaning, which ruins your clothes with bleach and cleaning products.

"Good Job - liked it here"
Pros
Simple job to have while in school and making some money
Cons
Hard to balance with school because if you?re sick or can?t make it, YOU have to find someone to cover your shift. If you can?t, it?s held against you.

"Really bad place to work?"
Pros
Free black card membership is a nice perk, but that?s about it
Cons
Constantly understaffed. Corporate micromanages through cameras without offering real support. Strict dress codes, surprise inspections, and impossible expectations make it hard to succeed here.
General Comments
Hire competent staff and ensure proper coverage to avoid burnout. Improve ADA compliance to better support employees with disabilities. Also, please eliminate the scripted tours?they feel robotic and unnecessary.

"PAY PLANET FITNESS STAFF WHAT THEY ARE WORTH"
Pros
Super rewarding to watch people improve themselves and be part of their fitness journey
Cons
The pay is terrible, especially considering how much is expected of employees. People who really care about their jobs are doing way more than they?re compensated for, and it?s frustrating.

"Regional management is terrible."
Pros
Made some great friends with my coworkers, plus a free gym membership
Cons
Lots of favoritism and retaliation when you try to leave. Management is inconsistent, HR turnover is high, and the job is way more stressful than it should be. The work goes beyond basic gym cleaning?it?s dealing with plumbing issues, angry customers, and even safety risks.

"Planet fitness was an extremely toxic work environment"
Pros
FlexPay is great, but not many other perks. The gym I worked at had a really toxic culture?lots of inappropriate behavior, unchecked comments, and childish drama. Just awful.
Cons
Poor management, outdated systems, and zero proper training. Machines break down often, and there?s a serious lack of communication across the board. Favoritism is rampant, and workplace harassment often goes unchecked. Definitely not a healthy work environment.
General Comments
The issues start at the corporate level and trickle down to general management. Specifically, at the Durham, NC (MLK Blvd) location, which is a franchise under Excel Fitness from Texas, the management structure is lacking. This gym, housed in an old Walmart Supercenter, hasn?t evolved much post-pandemic. The same problematic members from when I was a member are still causing issues, now from an employee?s perspective, exacerbated by a manager who enables poor behavior. Corporate needs to step in and address these systemic issues.

"Good but not great"
Pros
Great team to work with plus a free membership
Cons
Good as a temporary job, but if you're in management, it?s super stressful. The franchise owners seem clueless, and the pay doesn?t match the workload. High turnover is common because people leave for better-paying jobs. AGM roles are the worst?you do GM work without the GM pay.
General Comments
Implement a one-click membership cancellation system to simplify the process for both staff and members. Consider eliminating the overnight position, as it may not be necessary. Increase staff wages to reflect the work they do, ensuring managers earn no less than $45,000 annually. Also, it might be time to reconsider the ?Judgement Free Zone? branding?it often feels inconsistent with the actual environment.
